Forecast: Windy Monday, storm chances

More southerly winds and sunshine made for warmer temperatures than Saturday in the state. The weather timeline takes us through changes coming…

Monday will be a cooler day with northwesterly winds rushing into Iowa. Gusts to around 40mph are possible at times.

By late afternoon and evening a few showers and storms will cross the state as an upper-level disturbance moves through. Severe weather is not anticipated, but gusty winds are possible.

After dry weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, our attention will turn to storm chances Thursday and Friday. We may have energy accumulation in the atmosphere combine with favorable wind fields to give us a severe weather chance. We’ll keep an eye on that as the week progresses.

Rain chances begin Thursday morning, and could linger intermittently into Friday afternoon. Expected rain totals from Monday through Friday night are below.

Highs for the next six days:

A system moving in from the southwest late Sunday will bring heavier rainfall chances that could last into Tuesday. The six-to-ten-day outlook keeps us in a warm and wetter pattern.

7-day forecasts and the 8-to-10-day outlooks follow. Looks like we could stay busy. Have a great night!
