DES MOINES, Iowa — The temperature increased by 13 degrees in one hour on this Thursday morning in Iowa. Typically, the temperature climbs two or three degrees per hour at this time of the year. A heat burst happens with a decaying storm moving through. The temperature rises quickly and the dew point drops. This creates a burst of warm and dry air at the ground. It was observed in Des Moines in between 6-7 AM on this Thursday morning. No rain fell with the drop in dew points, but it felt a little like a storm was passing through.



There is one more chance for rain on the way today. The best chance exists in eastern Iowa in between 4-8 PM. The weekend is still looking warm and dry.
