DES MOINES, IOWA — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the Capitol Park Neighborhood on Saturday night.

Police were called to the 1100 Block of East Ninth Street around 10:30 p.m. on a report of someone being hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male pedestrian down in an alley. First responders performed life saving efforts, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time no vehicle has been located and the driver of the vehicle remains unknown. Police are asking for anyone with any information to reach out to the department at 515-323-8375.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when the department makes it available.
