Capital City Card Convention at events center this weekend

DES MOINES, Iowa — Thousands gathered for the Captial City Card Convention where hundreds of vendors and even a celebrity were waiting.

The Capital City Card Convention is the largest in the state and this year there were 224 tables full of cards, memorabilia, and collectibles from dealers across the country.

Saturday, the Chicago Cubs MLB Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg made an appearance signing autographs.

Pat Armstrong is the owner of Hawkeye Baseball Cards in Burlington and says this is the place to find rare items and visit with the card community.

“I’ve been doing this for 40 years and I really like the vintage, the older the better, if I can get 1800’s. early 1900’s. that what I really like,” said Armstrong. “I mean it’s a select group of investors and people that collect this kind of stuff.”

The Capital City Card Convention will open their doors for the final day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
