Clothing drive organized, Pocahontas fire chief’s home burns down

POCAHONTAS, Iowa — A clothing drive has been organized for Saturday after the Pocahontas fire chief’s home burned down earlier this week.

In a post on Facebook, the Odebolt Fire Department shared that the Pocahontas fire chief Jon Bellow’s home burnt down on March 21. The department shared that while all members of the family are safe, they lost everything.

On Saturday, Lynn Bellows shared on Facebook saying she’s grateful for her family’s safety.

“The outpouring love and support from our entire community! We appreciate all of you more than you’ll ever know! Our hearts our shattered but we thank God that all 6 of us are safe. This will be a long hard road for a while for us but we are all ok and that’s what we are so thankful for,” the statement read in part.

The Pocahontas Area Community freshman and sophomore classes are putting on a clothing drive for the Bellow’s family. The drive will take place March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PAC High School Commons area.
