The well-advertised blizzard arrived and caused all kinds of trouble across the state Wednesday; first in the form of heavy snow as seen in the totals below. These matched our forecasts well:

The other big issue was wind, which caused tree damage, power outages, and travel problems, especially in western and northern Iowa.

Winds will diminish Thursday, but then swing around from the south on a breezy Friday ahead of a fast-moving system that will bring light rain to the state during the evening hours, as shown below.

Additional rain chances could come Sunday and Tuesday. We’ll basically be in a pattern where small systems come our way out of the northwest every couple of days or so.

Looking ahead, the next chance for accumulating snow in Iowa may come after the 30th of March. Hopefully this fizzles out as time goes on!

Highs for the next 6 days and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts follow. Stay safe!
