How to watch Iowa teams in NCAA basketball tournament

DES MOINES, Iowa — Multiple Iowa basketball teams will fight to stay alive during the first round of the NCAA tournament this week. Below you’ll find all the information about matchups, tip-off times, and where to watch.

ISU Women

The No. 11 Iowa State women will take on No. 11 Princeton in a First Four matchup on Wednesday, March 19. This is the sixth straight NCAA tournament appearance for the Cyclone women. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) at Purcell Pavilion in Notre Dame, Indiana. The game can be watched on ESPNU.

If the Cyclones defeat Princeton they will go on to play against No. 6 Michigan in the First Round on Friday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m. (CT). That game will be televised on ESPN2.

Drake Men

The No. 11 Drake Bulldogs will take on the No. 6 Missouri Tigers in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 20. This will be the first time the Bulldogs and Tigers have faced off since 1987, when the Tigers scraped a 76-74 win. Earlier this month Drake was crowned the champions of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament for the third year in a row.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (CT) at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas. The game will be broadcasted on truTV.

ISU Men

On Friday the No. 3 Iowa State Cyclones take on the No. 14 Lipscomb Bisons in the First Round. The Cyclones are coming off a 96-92 loss against BYU in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. During that game two of the Cyclones star players, Tamin Lipsey and Keshon Gilbert, left the game due to injuries. Head Coach T.J. Otzelberger announced that Gilbert will miss the tournament, but Lipsey could be available.

Tip-off is scheduled for March 21 at 12:30 p.m. (CT) at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The game can be watched on TNT.

Iowa Women

No. 6 Iowa will take on No. 11 Murray State in the First Round of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament on Saturday. The Hawkeye women have made it to seven consecutive NCAA tournaments, making it all the way to the National Championship in 2024 and 2023.

Tip-off is scheduled for March 22 at 11:30 a.m. (CT) at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

Other teams

While they didn’t make it to the NCAA tournament, the Drake women and both UNI teams are competing in different tournaments this week.

The Drake women will face off against Marquette at home in the WBIT on Thursday, March 20 at 2 p.m. (CT). The game can be watched on ESPN+. The UNI women will also be competing in the WBIT. They play against Florida on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT). The game will take place at Florida, but can be watched on ESPN+.

On Wednesday the UNI men will take on SMU in the NIT at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT). The game will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
