Good Sunday morning! We’ll be greeted with sunshine today, but also cool and breezy conditions. Your weather timeline walks you through it…

Winds switch around to the south by Monday morning, setting us up for a breezy and warm St. Patrick’s Day and an equally warm Tuesday.

Changes come our way as another area of low pressure moves out onto the Plains late Tuesday into Wednesday.

We may see thunderstorms very late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. Rain then crosses the state, changing into accumulating snow. It’s too early to speculate on amounts, but as I type this Sunday morning the heaviest accumulations look as if they’ll occur along and either side of a line from Missouri Valley to Clear Lake. We’ll keep you posted.

The system will bring us more needed moisture in liquid and frozen form, as seen below:

Turning to temperatures, Monday and Tuesday may very well be the warmest days for the rest of March. However, we still look to stay a little above-average temperature-wise, as the extended graphics below support.

Looking at the European ensemble model output below, the 50 ensemble members certainly point to a good chance for snow accumulation Wednesday. There’s a tiny signal for snow and rain on Saturday, but snow chances look to be slim after that for the rest of the month at this time.
