WESLEY, Iowa — The Kossuth County Sherriff’s Office arrested a Wesley man on drug charges following a welfare check on Thursday.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Thursday a deputy sheriff was patrolling in Wesley when he observed a vehicle parked along East Street and Old Highway 18. The driver of the vehicle was slumped over the wheel.
The deputy stopped and initiated a welfare check on the driver of the vehicle and determined that the occupant didn’t need medical attention. According to KCSO, as the deputy approached the vehicle, they observed illegal narcotics and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
The observation led to the arrest of the driver, 64-year-old Dean Youngwirth of Wesley.
A search warrant was initiated of Youngwirth’s home located on East Street North in Wesley.
Youngwirth was charged with,
- Possession of Controlled Substance w/Intent to Deliver
- Possession of Marijuna 3rd Offense
- Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp
- Possession of Controlled Sustance 1st Offense
- Possesion of Drug Paraphernalia
Youngwirth was booked into the Kossuth County Jail; his bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.
