Iowan eats 99 tenderloins across the state, reveals his favorite

DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa man went on a quest to find his favorite pork tenderloin in the state and now we know his top choice.

JayJay Goodvin ate a tenderloin in all of Iowa’s 99 counties and documented his journey on his social media called “The Iowa Gallivant.”

We caught up with him this past summer when he visited Kelly’s Little Nipper in Des Moines.

He revealed exclusively on WHO 13 News his favorite tenderloin was located at The Landmark Bistro, a restaurant in Grundy Center, Iowa.

He explains what set Grundy County apart from the rest.

“It was bigger than say like your compact tenderloin, but it wasn’t huge,” Goodvin said. “It still had a nice thickness to it. The breading was crunchy, but did not overpower the flavor of the pork which was very important. They had a great seasoning in that breading. And I had a great experience too.”

Goodvin also announced his next project called “99 Specials,” where he plans to travel around the state again and try a special in every single county.

You can follow along on his journey on Facebook.
