Blackouts make it complicated for Iowa MLB fans

DES MOINES, Iowa — When it comes to Major League Baseball, Iowa is a great melting pot. We have no teams, and we have six teams. Six teams from four bordering states claim part or all of Iowa as their “home broadcasting territory.”

The Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals, Royals, Twins, and Brewers could all be found on cable and satellite here in Iowa—on regional sports networks like Fox Sports Midwest, Marquee, or Chicago Sports Network—but if you didn’t buy a package that included those stations you couldn’t get the games anywhere because they were “blacked out.”
