Forecast: Warming, then a wintry mix?

We ended up in about the same place we did Friday temperature-wise on this Saturday, just arriving there more quickly… not a bad day for late January. Your weather timeline takes you into Monday:

Saturday night will be a chilly one again under mostly cloudy skies, but we’ll see more sunshine by Sunday afternoon.

Monday brings milder temperatures, but as is usually the case this time of year, we’ll pay for it with windy conditions. A look at wind gusts Monday morning below:

We stay with highs above normal all through the work week, and we’ll be seeing less snow on the ground in the upper Midwest by Friday than we’re seeing Saturday…

By late Friday night, a system will be bringing a mix of rain and snow to our region. There’s a lot of disagreement among models regarding timing, placement of the precipitation, and precipitation type. We’ll keep you updated. It also appears that we may see additional snow the following Monday.

The European ensemble model mean (green below) makes it seen as if the accumulations will be light in both cases. This, of course, may change.

The extended forecast graphics below make it seem as if we can expect normal to cooler-than normal temperatures and above-average precipitation as we go through the first week of February.

Your WHO 13 7-day forecasts are below. Have a good Saturday!
