Sentencing Tuesday for former therapist on sexual exploitation at boys state training school

ELDORA, Iowa – A former therapist from the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning for a sentencing hearing.

Sarah Perry

Sarah Perry was arrested in November of 2023 on charges of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist, sexual exploitation by a therapist within one year of service, and sexual misconduct with an offender. Investigators say she had sexual relations with minor residents at the school.

In July of 2024, Perry pled guilty to one count of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist against boys at the facility and one count of sexual misconduct with an offender.

She faces up to five years in prison and fines topping $10,000 at sentencing.

The training school is a program that provides supervision and rehabilitation programs for at-risk boys ages 12 to 18. Court records also show she also got in trouble for selling vape pens to students.
