One dead in wrong way crash on Highway 2, Appanoose County

CENTERVILLE, Iowa — One person is dead after a wrong way driver caused a crash on Highway 2 near Centerville.

At approximately 6:04 p.m. on Saturday, the Iowa State Patrol responded to the intersection of Highway 2 and North B Street on reports of a crash.

A pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 2 when it collided with a car traveling westbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 2.

The driver of the pickup truck, 63-year-old Jeffrey Underwood, died.

The driver of the car, 59-year-old Ronald Bedford, and passenger Lorraine Bedford, 68, were transported to the hospital with injuries.
