DES MOINES, Iowa – The Des Moines City Council will discuss creating a homeless village at its meeting Monday night.
The designated area would be made up of 43 structures made out of fiberglass and secured to the ground. The designers say daily operation costs, including on-site meals and supportive services, average $65 per person.
The council votes will Monday night on a $2 million community development block grant from the Cares Act to help start it. You can find out more about the proposed use of funding in agenda documents from the council here.
