Iowa made Tone’s Spices being dropped from Hy-Vee stores

DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee confirmed on Thursday that the grocery store chain will no longer be stocking Tone’s Spices.

In a statement sent to WHO 13 Hy-Vee said it would no longer stock the Iowa made spices due to inconsistent product availability.

We would have preferred to keep our spices with Tone’s. However, after multiple attempts to work with Tone’s, they were unable to adequately supply our stores with spices and they could not assure us that we would have supply over the critical holiday shopping season.

Hy-Vee said it will be stocking a larger spice company to keep up with demand.

According to Tone’s Spices’ website, the company started in small town Iowa more than 150 years ago and now operates one of the largest spice production facilities in the world in Ankeny.

WHO 13 has reached out to Tone’s for a statement, but has not yet received a response.
