Iowa man dies in head-on Tama County crash

TAMA COUNTY, Iowa — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday near the town of Dysart.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, the collision happened around 5:34 p.m. on Highway 21, south of 170th Street. That’s about three miles northwest of Dysart.

A Volkswagen GTI was traveling south on Highway 21 and a Ford F-150 towing a trailer was northbound when the two vehicles crashed in an offset head-on collision. The driver of the Volkswagen, 19-year-old Jason Williams of Dysart, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, 62-year-old Mark Bagenstos of Evansdale, and passenger 59-year-old Jeanne Bagenstos of Clutier were transported to Allen Hospital. Their conditions were not listed in the crash report.

The ISP is continuing its investigation into the collision.
