POMEROY, Iowa — Multiple law enforcement agencies are on the scene in Pomeroy investigating a shooting Monday morning and officials say the incident is also linked to a standoff in Manson.
Donald Schnitker, Assistant Director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Field Operations Bureau confirmed to WHO 13 that DCI is assisting the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office with its investigation. Schnitker said there is no danger to the public from the incident.
WHO 13’s Roger Riley is on the scene in Pomeroy, where an apartment building at the corner of E. 7th Street and S. Cayuga is blocked off by yellow crime scene tape. Personnel from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office are at the apartment building investigating.
Calhoun County Attorney Ben Smith said there was a standoff in Manson Monday morning, which ended peacefully, that is linked to the shooting investigation in Pomeroy.
No details about whether anyone was injured or killed in the shooting have been released.
Schnitker said more information about the incident will be released later Monday by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
