Multiple search warrants served in metro narcotics investigation

DES MOINES, Iowa — More than a dozen search warrants were served early Wednesday morning in the Des Moines metro as part of a drug investigation prompted by an opioid-related overdose death.

Sgt. Paul Parizek, spokesperson for the Des Moines Police Department, said the search warrants were executed at locations in Des Moines and its suburbs. The investigation began in early 2024 with the Des Moines Police Department Vice & Narcotics Control Section and is in partnership with federal, state, and other metro law enforcement agencies.

All of the locations where search warrants were served have been secured.

More information is expected to be shared by the United States Attorney’s Office, which is handling the prosecution of the case.
