OSCEOLA, Iowa — One person is dead and another is hospitalized following a shooting in Osceola Tuesday morning.

At around 6:15 a.m. the Osceola Police Department responded to a 911 call requesting help in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive on the south side of town. According to Osceola Police Chief Marty Duffus, when officers arrived at the scene they found an adult male and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds inside a home.

The adult male victim was transported to a Des Moines hospital via air ambulance where he later died from his injuries. The female victim remains hospitalized at a local hospital.

Chief Duffus said the victims were husband and wife and it appears the shooting was a murder-suicide.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No additional information has been released.
