DES MOINES, Iowa — An investigation is underway into an officer-involved shooting in downtown Des Moines after officers responded to a report about a person with a gun Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department said officers responded to 430 Grand Avenue around 6:07 a.m. after learning of a man allegedly threatening a woman with a gun. While they were investigating, a shooting happened.
Medics from the Des Moines Fire Department responded to the scene. Police have not yet released information about any possible injuries related to the shooting.
A preliminary investigation is underway and Sgt. Parizek said more details will be released as they become available.
There are temporary road closures at 5th Avenue and Grand Avenue because of the investigation.
