POLK COUNTY, Iowa — A new flyover bridge at the East Mixmaster is now open the Iowa Department of Transportation announced on Thursday.
The new flyover connects eastbound I-35/80 to northbound I-35. Previously, drivers who were traveling eastbound on I-35/80 and wanted to head north towards Ankeny had to take a left-hand exit. Now, with the opening of the flyover, the I-35 northbound exit will be on the right-hand side.
According to the DOT, the multi-million dollar revamp of the mixmaster will help improve traffic flow and make the area safer. Construction is projected to be completed in 2028.
