Iowa Wild hosting games this weekend to help fight cancer, honor veterans

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Wild are back on the ice in Des Moines against the Texas Stars this weekend hosting games that benefit local causes.

Friday, the Wild will host its Hockey Fights Cancer game, benefitting Cops Against Cancer. Attendees will be able to fill out “I Fight For” cards and an auction will be held to purchase players’ warm-up hockey sticks.

Saturday, the Wild will host its Veteran Appreciation game and will display their Iowa Aeros specialty jerseys. Veterans and military members can get a free ticket for the game at the box office, and attendees can purchase the special jerseys. Proceeds from the game will benefit Mid-Iowa Council and Scouting America.
