Iowa man visits every Pizza Ranch in the country

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KCAU) — Jason Halkias had his first slice of Pizza Ranch back in 2005, but it wasn’t until 2014 that he started his journey.

“During a relationship that I started with a woman in Cedar Rapids, she just happened to be a big Pizza Ranch fanatic of her own,” Halkias said. “That kind of got me motivated to try to find reasons to visit more.”

While his main goal was to visit all 200-plus locations of the pizza buffet chain, he said his favorite part of the journey was the sightseeing.

“They’re in 14 states, so it does allow me to go to locations of the country that I’ve never been to before,” Halkias said. “Like when I went out west, I got to see a few historical sites related to the Oregon Trail. I got to see high visible viewpoints, like a mountain in Casper, Wyoming for example, and in general, kind of seeing what the site is like”

Halkias’ 10-year quest ended Tuesday at the Sioux Center Pizza Ranch. He was greeted by the staff with a goodie bag and, of course, his favorite pizza.

“Stuffed buffalo chicken is my go-to, but I like a lot of other things,” Halkias said.

The manager of the restaurant wanted to make sure he felt appreciated at the final stop of his Pizza Ranch journey.

“I think his name of The Legendary Buffet Guest fits him perfectly,” manager Zach Dykstra said. “Not everyone takes time out of their life to visit every location of Pizza Ranch, and so we’re very honored to have loyal guests like Jason.”

Halkias says he’s not quite done yet – he plans to visit any new Pizza Ranch locations that open up.
