FORT DODGE, Iowa — Fort Dodge police have made an arrest in connection with an investigation into a shots fired call Tuesday morning.
Brandon Mothershed, 23, has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class D felony. He is being held in the Webster County Jail on a cash bond of $10,000.
According to a news release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of S 17th St. around 8:15 a.m. on a report of a single shot fired. The suspect had left the scene on a bicycle by the time officers arrived, and after speaking with the victim and witnesses they learned the shot had actually been fired in the 100 block of S 18th St.
A criminal complaint filed in the case says Mothershed fired a pistol in the area of the victim then pointed the gun at the victim and tried to fire the weapon, but it malfunctioned.
Police said Mothershed was spotted getting into a vehicle around 8:12 p.m. Tuesday night in the 2900 block of 1st Ave. S and officers conducted a “high-risk” traffic stop at 115 S 29th St. He was taken into custody without incident.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Mothershed on November 8th.
