Lucky for Life ticket sold in Des Moines wins $25k a year for life

CLIVE, Iowa — If you purchased a Lucky for Life ticket in Des Moines check your ticket now, as you may be the winner of $25,000 a year for life.

The Iowa Lottery announced on Wednesday that a ticket sold in Des Moines won the big prize. The winning ticket matched the first five numbers but not the Lucky Ball — resulting in a prize of $25,000 a year for life or a lump-sum option. Wednesday’s numbers were 9-12-22-25-44 and Lucky Ball 9.

The ticket was purchased at the Hy-Vee in the 2500 block of East Euclid Avenue in Des Moines. Hy-Vee will receive a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.

There was also a large prize won in Burlington. The winning ticket matched the Powerball and all four of the white balls, initially winning a $50,000 prize. However, the person who bought that ticket added the Power Play option, doubling the prize to $100,000. Wednesday’s numbers were 2-15-27-29-39, Powerball 20, and Power Play 2.

Winners have 180 days to claim their prizes. The prize won in Des Moines must be claimed at the lottery headquarters in Clive, while the Burlington prize can be claimed at any of the lottery’s offices.
