DES MOINES, IOWA — The Des Moines Police Department is asking for help finding the owner of a van that struck and injured three pedestrians earlier this month on the south side of town.
The crash happened in the 800 block of Army Post Road around 7:40 pm on Wednesday, October 9th. Police say a group was crossing the road heading south when an eastbound minivan struck them. Witness say the minivan did not slow down. One of the persons injured remains hospitalized in critical condition 12 days later.
The van that hit the pedestrians was found abandoned a few blocks away in the 6500 block of Chaffee Road. Police are now asking for help to find the van’s owner – 32-year-old Renato Virves. Police say all their efforts to contact him thus far have been unsuccessful.
