Des Moines woman dies in Iowa County crash, 1 other injured

IOWA COUNTY, Iowa — A Des Moines woman was killed and another person injured in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in rural Iowa County.

It happened around 6:55 a.m. just north of Millersburg, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. Jeanne Kashindi, 53, was driving a Kia Sportage eastbound on F52 Trail when the ISP said she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with H Avenue for an unknown reason.


Des Moines man accused of planting explosive device in ex-roommate’s vehicle

The SUV then entered a downhill driveway into a county gravel storage area and struck broken-up concrete pieces before landing on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Kashindi was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle, Rachel Happy of Des Moines, was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals by ambulance. The ISP crash report did not list her condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
