WAUKEE, Iowa — Target is opening its newest metro location in Waukee this Sunday.
The 148,000-square-foot facility at 900 SE Laurel St. will have one of the largest food footprints of any of its stores in the metro. The store will contain an Ulta, CVS Pharmacy, and a Starbucks.
The new Target is part of the $132 million Waukee Town Center development boasting 62 acres of retail and shopping space.
For the City of Waukee, Target coming to town means keeping shoppers in the city which they hope creates opportunity for small businesses.
“There’ll be a lot of money that stays within our community because people will be shopping within their community,” Jennifer Brown, the Economic Development Director for the City of Waukee said, “but also there’ll be a lot of opportunities for small businesses to come and, you know, additional businesses to come and locate right within the town center, but not only town center, but the Kettlestone development and anywhere within Waukee, our Hickman corridor, there’s lots of opportunities to locate in the Waukee community as well.”
The City of Waukee also expects to generate substantial tax revenue from the Waukee Towncenter Development.
The Waukee Target will open this Sunday, October 13th. Regular operating hours will be 8:00 am. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.
