Forecast: Rain totals & a cooler week

Much-needed rainfall fell in Iowa Saturday through this morning, with northern Iowa unfortunately missing out on most of it.

Much cooler air has moved into Iowa as a cold front moved across the state last night. Temperatures have been around 20 degrees cooler than yesterday.

Highs in the 70’s will be with us this week, with tiny rain chances coming our way the next two days.

Parts of Iowa will fall into the 40’s overnight before rebounding to highs in the low 70’s in most areas Monday.

A disturbance crossing southeast Iowa Monday afternoon could kick off a few light showers there, while another system dropping into the state from the northwest will bring a slight shower chance Tuesday morning before dissipating.

Highs for the next six days can be found in the gallery below:

The 6-to-10 and 8-to-14-day outlooks keep us in a warm and dry regime into the beginning of October.

A tropical system moving into the Gulf late-week could move north and bring shower chances to Iowa on Saturday and Sunday. We’ll continue to monitor.
